Baby Essential List NB to 3 Months
This is my baby registry, a list I gathered from experienced moms. I considered all items on this list essential because I used every single one of them. For things, I didn’t know what it was for but bought it anyways turned out to be a lifesaver. I purchased all these items prior to the baby’s arrival. I thought this list was crazily long but little did I know, that was just the beginning…

Nursing
Breast feeding is such a special bonding moment with the baby but we all experience it differently. I know moms who kept breast feeding until the baby turned 1.5 years old and some experienced medical difficulties that prevent them from breast feeding from the beginning. For me, I was fully prepared to breastfeed but I also didn’t want to kill myself if I can’t for reasons I can’t control. I couldn’t wrap my head around the concept of breastfeeding before Rayna was born, I thought it must feel weird combined with all the horrible stories I heard from other moms. But then once Rayna is here, she normalized the whole thing. I wouldn’t say that’s the best thing in the world, but I really didn’t mind it and enjoyed it when I can. What ended up happening was that I breastfed 30% and formula fed 70% of the time. Rayna had Jaundice when she was born and she was in NICU for 2 days with light treatments. Jaundice is a common health issue in newborn infants. Around 60 percent of newborns experience jaundice, and this increases to 80 percent of premature infants born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. The cause of her jaundice was likely to be her different blood type from me. We got discharged after 2 days in hospital but needed to monitor her bilirubin level at our pediatrician’s office. It’s suggested by our pediatrician that she stayed hydrated and pee a lot to help her recover faster. At that time, my breast milk hasn’t flowed in yet, so we fed her formula to ensure she had enough fluid.
I enjoyed the early period of skin to skin with her, it was absolutely precious. There are many skin to skin tops out there. I’m wearing the Seraphine 3/4 sleeve here. They come in short sleeves for summer baby!
I love Dr.Brown bottles. It comes with the infant feeding valves that help mitigate gas. For new born, use number 1 nipple and as the baby ages, you can size up. Rayna is using number 3 now at month 7.
For the breast pump, you can call your insurance company for a free one. I used Spectra because it’s the most quiet one out there. Yes, the machine made pumping noise.
The hospital is likely to feed your baby Similac in this exact packaging because most mom don’t produce breast milk right away.
Effectively cleans baby bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers and breast pump components. Removes milk film and odors.
For sore nipples from feeding. Baby can be vicious.
This brush cleans pretty well for me. Make sure you get the mini brush too!
This pieces is very important if you want to be hands free when doing the breast pump. Without this, you will be holding those two bottles. No phones?!!
Bottle warmer if you are feeding baby formula.
I am using Wabi Baby Touch Panel Dual function UV Sterilizer and dryer, but it’s been out of stock. This is another option.
This is one thing I didn’t use out of my baby registry list. I didn’t have enough breast milk and I didn’t try that hard to produce. I feed Rayna formula.
For moms who are breast feeding only, the pediatrician would suggest feeding the baby Vitamin D at around month 3.
Diapers and Changing Station
I tried the Pamper Swaddle, but Pure is much preferred by me. It absorbs better and stays dryer.
Baby can use this for most skin problems! Get this ready! I use this on Rayna on day 2 she’s home.
This is the MOST important baby product to me because it hurts me to see baby’s stuffy nose. I’m just afraid they don’t breath properly. You can get this from any drugstore near you too.
I like the water base, non fragrance wipes, because you can use it to wipe baby’s face and hands too.
Drying cloth, I use it to dry after using wet wipes. And when I carry Rayna to bathroom for butt wash after her poo poo.
We put this on the Rory’s changing table and dresser set. See dresser link before
Pacifier clipper from Muchie. I found this useful for going out. It’s the only way I can ensure we don’t loose the pacifier.
Oh, you will need this diaper trash can. It’s soo good!
I tried many pacifiers and ended up with Mushie because Rayna loves it the most. Pacifier comes in so many different shapes, please feel free to do your own research and buy a few for your baby to try!
Sleep
A very sturdy bassinet and I like the design. Rayna sleeps in it for the first 6 months in our master bedroom next to me. We didn’t use the rocking and white noise feature often because Rayna didn’t seem to care. But many parents swear by it. It’s on the pricier side but you can rent it!
Halo Sleeping sack! If you suck at swaddling, use this! We started using only this at month 3, and Rayna still sleeps in it now but with arms out.
HALO DreamNest Open Airflow Sleep System. I love this product! It stays in the living room as Rayna’s second bed. It made it easy for everyone to take care of her in the day. The manual rocking feature works surprisingly well on Rayna. It can be folded and converted into a travel cot!
Snuggle Me baby lounger. It was very helpful during the first 5 months. Rayna preferred to sleep in the lounger than in the bassinet. Now we don’t use it as much,
We cannot live without this camera! We installed the Nanit app on our phone and we can see Rayna whenever she’s in bed and it provides insightful analysis of her night sleep. It helped me sleep train Rayna. A must!
Warm and cool mist humidifier.
I Highly recommended Aden and Anais swaddle. Their material is the best out there, it’s just so much easier to swaddle than other fabrics we tried.
I put this in every room :)
Bath & Laundry
You probably need to watch a youtube video for your first time bathing a baby. We used this until month 5 and we bath her in the bathtub now.
I love footed onesies like these. So I don’t need to put socks on.
For baby’s clothes, ALWAYS get the side snap style onesies. You can search “Side button onesie,” “kimono style onesie,” ect.
Shower towel with a hood. You need that hood to dry baby’s head and hair. It’s not just for decorative.
Short sleeves for summer born babies.
Side snapped onesie without foot.
Baby Furniture
We got the dresser and swivel chair before Rayna was born and bought the crib at month 6 when we transferred her from bassinet to her crib. I went into Pottery Barn Kids to try the swivel chair while I was pregnant and this one made me feel like I’m on cloud 9. If you are looking for one and can’t go to the store to try it, trust me, this one is the one! I fell asleep on it so easily, it’s that comfortable.
Baby travel system
We got everything from Nuna because the parts are interchangeable and the pipa carseat is supposed to be the lightest. We are using the Nuna Mixx and I love their wheels, it’s super smooth and the back wheels are big for extra stability especially on bumpy roads. Other brands that my mom friends love are UppaBaby Vista and MockingBird.
